Project Description
The SHIELDS Housing Application Tracking System is an intranet based system that will be used by the housing, accounting and maintenance departments of SHIELDS For Families Inc. Its main purpose is to help with the back office activities of these three departments of SHIELDS For Families Inc. At present the organization is using Microsoft Excel to store and manage their data, which involves lot of manual labor. This reduces productivity and increases business process times. This technique is particularly difficult when there is a need to generate custom reports on data stored in the spreadsheet form or when performing search. For rent calculation the organization uses QuickBooks, which is known to only one person, thereby making these departments dependent on him completely.

The new system that we plan to implement will be able to handle the SHIELDS’ client’s housing and maintenance related applications along with their profile and rent information. The system will be able to store maintenance checklists associated with different units. The system will have features to calculate rent for a particular client based on his economic conditions and generate variety of reports for the administrator to help him make better decisions and for providing information desired by their different sponsors. The system will be able to keep up with the growth of data because of establishment of new villages and the addition of new users of the system. Besides, this the system has features like periodic backup of database and data archiving.
